dream school...

Yesterday we did a story on a different school, a very different school. In South Bronx there is a school that's adapted the Kipp system, Knowledge is Power Program.
It was like any other school I've seen. All the children were well behaved, no screaming or yelling. They had an orchestra that blew me away, 7th graders playing instruments like I've never heard.
So the question is: why is not every school in the US like this?? The answer is there aren't enought teachers willing to go the extra mile.
A lottery system determines who can attent. Then a 3 part contract (teacher, student, parent) is signed. Teachers even give out their home phone numbers if students have questions about their homework. The school day is extended til 5pm.
Education is the way forward, and imagine if every school was a Kipp School...
