In the last 2 days, the resturants I've eaten at have added the tip to my meal without asking. Yesterday I caught it, but tonight I didn't. I added an additional 6 dollar tip (on top of their 15%) and gave the waitress my ticket.
The whole tipping thing is out of control, it's not a voluntary thing or something based on the service recieved anymore, it is mandatory. There is no incentive for the waiter/waitress to provide great service, the tip is there anyway.
The funny thing is when I removed my "additonal tip" tonight, the waitress realised she would have made almost 3 dollars more by letting me tip myself...
